Abstract

The present study does mention the situation of pregnant women on board and the existing questions from the admission of the first class of women in Brazilian merchant marine, with its challenges of the profession during those early years that have gone by, as well as the conquest of space, the importance of equal rights in front of society. Reports that the pregnancy of women today is one of the major difficulties experienced in the other women of all sectors, already facing major barriers for trying to conquer their rights relating to the period of gestation, while being employed. Describes steps of pregnancy and frequent symptoms of some pregnant women compared to the work environment. And also takes into consideration the legislation based on the laws that protect the pregnant woman and the baby, as well as attentive to the issue of there being no law that specifically garnish still today the woman attendant was pregnant, because the environment is different from that which works on shore. Brings important information and data from people who have already lived the issue shortly after the admission of women in the maritime environment, with relevant functions as Captains and Chief Engineers. And reports on the importance of the subject brings to the other groups of women who come each year, majoring in Marine Education Centers that exist in Brazil. Taking considering the number of employment vacancies decline for women' s class, with the output of the woman that would like to have a child and that's relevant of this today.
